DHH Program Goals
Program goals have been developed to meet the total needs of the students in the DHH Program. They are as follows:
Students will develop skills in the communication areas of speech and language, speech-reading, sign language, and written language according to the areas most appropriate for them.
Students will develop a working knowledge of their hearing aids.
Students are encouraged to develop traits essential to good character and participate in activities that promote social and emotional health.
Students will develop a realistic attitude toward their hearing impairment and use of compensatory strategies.
Students will develop the fundamental skills necessary for maximum realization of their potential.
Students will understand and pursue their personal and vocational interests.
Students will participate in environments that are the most supportive environments given their needs and abilities and curricular areas within which they are being required to function.
