Sheila Pickens joined the ECHO Joint Agreement leadership team in July of 2011. She began her career in the field of education over twenty-one years ago after leaving the corporate world to pursue her passion. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Southern Illinois University and has experience as a regular and special education teacher. She brings seventeen years of administrative experience to her role as Assistant Director of Curriculum and Instruction and Human Resources having served in various administrative positions in south suburban school districts. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Governor’s State University and has recently completed doctoral coursework in Education Leadership at Roosevelt University. She firmly believes that teachers are pivotal in ensuring that students are successful. She considers herself blessed to be an educator and credits her love of special education, teaching and student learning to her brother (Derrick) and to her favorite teacher (Robert E. Gray).
